From the first Membership Award to those hard-earned Challenge Awards, we know how proud young people (and their grown-ups!) feel when it's time to sew on a new badge.
To help you get everything in the right place, we’ve put together a handy visual guide for each section. Whether it’s your first time with a needle and thread, or your child’s jumper is running out of space — we've got you covered!

🐿️ Squirrel Scout Uniform
Squirrels wear a bright red sweatshirt and group scarf, with badges placed on the sleeves and chest.
⭐ You’ll find spots for Challenge Awards, Joining In Awards, and Activity Badges.
🦫 Beaver Scout Uniform
Beavers wear a light blue sweatshirt and group scarf. Badges go on both sleeves and the chest.
🎖️ Key badges include the Membership Award, Activity Badges, Joining In, and Challenge Awards.
🐺 Cub Scout Uniform
Cubs wear a green sweatshirt and scarf, with lots of room for their growing badge collection.
🏅 You’ll notice spaces for Leadership stripes, the YouShape Award, and the Chief Scout’s Silver Award.
🔥 Scout Uniform
Scouts move on to a long-sleeve shirt and continue to proudly display their progress.
🏆 Here you’ll see placement for Challenge Awards, Patrol Badges, the Chief Scout’s Gold Award, and more.
🧷 It’s a great idea to double-check placement before sewing — there’s lots to celebrate at this stage!
And don’t worry — perfection isn’t the goal. Every badge is a memory, and if it’s a little wobbly, that just adds to the story.
Still unsure or need a hand?
Just ask a leader at your next meeting — we’re always happy to help.
🧶 Happy sewing — and congratulations on every badge earned! 💚
