Get Prepared

Ready for the adventure

Starting Scouts is exciting and sometimes a little nerve-racking too!

This page is here to help your child feel prepared, comfortable and ready to join in.

👕 Uniform

Uniform is comfortable, practical and gives everyone a place to proudly display badges. It helps us feel like one big team and means no one is left out. It also means children can run around and get messy without worrying about their other clothes.

Don’t worry if you don’t have everything straight away — we’ll guide you and support families as they get started.

📅 Weekly Meetings

Most weeks your child just needs their uniform, a water bottle and plenty of energy. Sometimes we’ll let you know if they need to bring something extra for a craft, outdoor activity or themed evening.

⛺ Camps and Sleepovers

Packing for a first night away can feel like an adventure in itself! We’ll provide kit lists so nothing important gets missed. Essentials usually include a sleeping bag, torch, wash kit and sturdy shoes. Remember, things might get a little muddy — old clothes are best.

🌟 Top Tips for Families

  • Label clothes and kit — it saves a lot of mix-ups.

  • Pack together — it helps your child know where things are.

  • Pop in a small teddy or keepsake if it’s their first night away.

  • Speak to us if you’re unsure about anything — we’re here to help.

✨ Focus on the fun

With the right preparation, children can throw themselves into activities, try new things and make memories that last forever.

Ready for your next big adventure? Let’s make sure you’ve got everything you need.

Whether it’s your very first night away or your tenth muddy hike, preparation makes all the difference. Our leaders will always share a kit list before camp, so there’s no need to guess or rush out to buy anything new. You don’t need the latest rucksack or all-singing-all-dancing torch — just the essentials, a bit of planning, and a big sense of adventure.

💡 Top tip: If a specific item is needed, your section leader will let you know. No pressure, no panic.
